First Phase of the Dukan Diet

The increased popularity of the Dukan diet is due to its effectiveness as a healthy-slimming diet. The diet has been conceived by Dr. Dukan, a French nutritionist with over 30 years experience in the field.

4 Phases to Lose Weight

This healthy slimming diet is divided into four phases:

Phase I – The Attack
In this phase, you begin the fight with the extra pounds that do not want to come off. The phase has an only protein-based diet. This stage is about appetite control.

Phase II – The Cruise
It combines an only protein-based diet on certain days with a diet based on both proteins and vegetables on other days.

Phase III – Consolidation
This is considered the most vulnerable stage. You could put back on the pounds you have lost so far, with great ease.

Phase IV – Stabilization
The last stage is all about maintaining your new weight.

The Attack Phase of the Dukan Healthy Slimming Diet

For most people, it is generally recommended a combination made of 5 parts – carbohydrates, 3 parts – fat, and 2 parts proteins for proper nutrition. This combination is also present in a mother’s breast milk. Furthermore, by eating this way, we assimilate more food, meaning that we put on weight easily.

If we change this proportion, we also change the body’s calorie absorption.

Proteins are the only nutrients indispensable for the proper function of our body. This principle is the base of the Dukan healthy-slimming diet. Carbohydrates or sugar are the least important because they are produced by our body from meat and fats.

The food group which is the richest in proteins is meat.

Beef is considered to be fatty, but there are portions with less fat such as filet mignon. Lamb and pork meat is not included. However, the animal organs are rich in proteins and have less fat. The liver contains a small quantity of sugar.

Chicken is rich in proteins and has little fat, especially the chicken breast. Eggs are also included.

Fish is also considered a low-fat food and is recommended; especially fish with white meat, such as hake and cod as they are a protein gold mine. Sardines, tuna fish, salmon, herring and mackerel are also rich in proteins, but they have more fat. Crustaceans like shrimp, crab and other seafood are also recommended for proteins. It is recommended to remove the skin of shellfish because it is rich in cholesterol. You should also eat a spoon of oat bran, skimmed milk and at least 1.5 litres of water a day.

The period depends on the number of pounds you want to lose, between 1 and 10 days.
In the first stage of this healthy-slimming diet you can eat as much as you like of 72 foods rich in proteins meant for starting a fast weight loss process.
